This sheeting is a non-structural covering material. Therefore, the supporting frame, fixings and installation method must suit the completed structure and its expected environmental exposure.

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting 7.3m Wide

Use UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting to cover compatible greenhouse frames, larger polytunnels and horticultural growing structures.

The film measures 7.3m wide, which equals approximately 23.95 feet. Meanwhile, customers can choose the length they need because we sell the material by the linear metre.

For example, ordering one metre provides a sheet measuring approximately 7.3m x 1m. Similarly, ordering five metres provides approximately 7.3m x 5m, while ordering ten metres provides approximately 7.3m x 10m.

We cut the selected length from the roll. Consequently, customers can order material to suit different greenhouse or polytunnel sizes without purchasing a predetermined sheet length.

However, the maximum continuous length depends on the material available on the roll. Therefore, please contact us before ordering an especially long piece.

At 180 microns thick, the film measures 0.18mm and is equivalent to approximately 720 gauge. In addition, the UVI treatment helps protect the polythene against degradation caused by ultraviolet exposure.

Dimensions and conversions are approximate. Therefore, allow additional material for overlaps, securing edges, tensioning and finishing when calculating the length required.

The film thickness describes the nominal material thickness. However, it does not determine the strength of the completed structure because frame condition, installation, fixings and environmental exposure also affect performance.

How to Order UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

We sell UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting by the linear metre while maintaining the full 7.3m width.

Select the required quantity according to the length you need:

Quantity Ordered Approximate Sheet Size Supplied Approximate Imperial Size Approximate Coverage
1 7.3m x 1m 23.95 feet x 3.28 feet 7.3m² / 78.58 square feet
2 7.3m x 2m 23.95 feet x 6.56 feet 14.6m² / 157.15 square feet
3 7.3m x 3m 23.95 feet x 9.84 feet 21.9m² / 235.73 square feet
5 7.3m x 5m 23.95 feet x 16.40 feet 36.5m² / 392.88 square feet
10 7.3m x 10m 23.95 feet x 32.81 feet 73m² / 785.77 square feet
20 7.3m x 20m 23.95 feet x 65.62 feet 146m² / 1,571.53 square feet

For example, enter a quantity of 8 if you require a sheet approximately 7.3m wide x 8m long. You will then receive approximately 58.4m² or 628.61 square feet of material, subject to nominal manufacturing tolerances.

Measure the greenhouse or polytunnel carefully before ordering. Additionally, include enough film for securing, tensioning, overlaps and any part of the sheet that must extend beyond the frame.

Measuring for UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

Begin by measuring over the complete greenhouse or polytunnel frame rather than measuring only the floor area.

For a curved polytunnel, measure from one ground-level edge, over the highest part of the frame and down to the opposite side. This measurement will help you determine whether the 7.3m width provides enough material.

Next, measure the full length of the structure. Add extra material at both ends so you can close, secure and finish the cover correctly.

Additionally, allow for the installation system, overlaps and any material needed around doors or ventilation openings. Because greenhouse and polytunnel designs vary considerably, check the frame manufacturer’s covering guidance where available.

If you are unsure about the required length, contact us before ordering. Providing the frame measurements and a basic diagram may help us understand the intended application.

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting for All Four Seasons

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting is suitable for use throughout spring, summer, autumn and winter when correctly installed on a compatible structure.

During spring and summer, the clear finish allows natural daylight into the growing area. Meanwhile, the covering provides a waterproof physical barrier against rain.

During autumn and winter, the sheeting can continue to enclose the structure and help create a more protected growing environment. However, the material does not heat the greenhouse or guarantee a particular internal temperature.

Weather conditions vary throughout the UK. Therefore, inspect the cover, frame and fixings regularly, particularly after strong winds, heavy rain, frost or snow.

Remove accumulated snow or standing water safely before excessive weight develops. Furthermore, repair any damage promptly so small tears do not spread.

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting for Larger Polytunnels

The 7.3m width makes UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting suitable for compatible larger polytunnels as well as greenhouse frames.

A wider sheet can cover the curved span of a structure without requiring an unnecessary central joint. Consequently, it may help simplify installation and reduce the number of overlapping sections.

However, always measure over the complete curve of the frame before ordering. The floor width alone will not tell you how much material the cover requires.

Allow extra sheeting at ground level and at both ends. This additional material provides room for securing, tensioning and finishing the cover according to the frame and installation system.

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting and UV Exposure

The UVI treatment helps protect UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting against degradation caused by ultraviolet exposure.

Standard untreated polythene may become brittle when exposed to sunlight over time. In contrast, UVI treatment helps support the film during suitable outdoor greenhouse and polytunnel applications.

Nevertheless, UVI treatment does not make the material indestructible or provide unlimited outdoor life. Exposure levels, local weather, installation tension, chemical contact and abrasion can all influence performance.

Avoid placing the sheeting against sharp edges or rough frame sections. Additionally, check that paints, preservatives, cleaners and crop treatments are compatible with the film.

Waterproof UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

The polythene film provides waterproof protective coverage. Therefore, it can help shield plants and growing areas from direct rainfall when fitted correctly.

However, the completed greenhouse or polytunnel will only resist water effectively when the cover remains undamaged and every edge, opening and fixing point has been finished correctly.

Holes, loose edges, unsuitable seams and poorly fitted doors may allow water to enter. Consequently, inspect the complete structure after installation and following periods of severe weather.

The material should not be used as a pond liner, damp-proof membrane, roofing membrane or another specialist waterproofing product unless its suitability for that application has been confirmed.

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting with Tear and Puncture Resistance

At 180 microns or approximately 720 gauge, UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting provides a substantial film for compatible greenhouse and polytunnel covering.

The material is designed to offer strength and resistance to tearing and punctures. As a result, it provides a more durable covering option than lightweight temporary polythene films.

Nevertheless, sharp frame edges, protruding fixings, branches, tools and repeated abrasion can still damage the material. Therefore, inspect the frame carefully and cover or remove any sharp contact points before installation.

Do not drag the sheeting over rough ground. In addition, keep cutting tools and pointed equipment away from the film once it has been positioned.

Clear Greenhouse Cover for Natural Light

The clear finish allows daylight to pass into the covered growing space. As a result, the sheeting suits greenhouse and horticultural applications where plants require access to natural light.

However, the product does not have a confirmed light-transmission percentage. Therefore, growing performance will depend on the crop, season, greenhouse position, cleanliness of the film and surrounding shade.

Keep the outer surface reasonably clean using an appropriate method. Dirt, algae and residue may reduce the amount of light reaching the plants.

Additionally, provide suitable ventilation because enclosed greenhouse structures can become very warm during sunny weather. The cover should form part of a complete growing system that includes appropriate temperature, moisture and airflow management.

Installing UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

Choose a calm and dry period for installation wherever possible. Wind can make a large sheet difficult to control and may increase the risk of damage or injury.

First, inspect the greenhouse or polytunnel frame. Remove sharp edges, protruding fixings and rough sections, then repair any damaged structural components.

Next, position UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting across the structure without dragging it over abrasive ground or sharp materials. Work with enough people to control the 7.3m wide sheet safely.

Apply even tension according to the frame and fixing system. However, avoid pulling the film excessively because unnecessary tension may weaken the material or place additional stress on the structure.

Secure the edges using a compatible greenhouse or polytunnel film fixing method. Finally, check the complete installation for loose areas, sharp contact points and openings that could catch the wind.

Securing UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

The correct fixing method depends on the greenhouse frame, location and intended use.

Compatible timber battens, greenhouse clips, channels or other purpose-designed systems may provide suitable options. However, check that every component works with the frame and 180 micron film before installation.

Avoid puncturing the sheeting unnecessarily. Where fixings must pass through the material, follow the greenhouse or fixing manufacturer’s instructions.

Secure the full perimeter carefully because loose edges may move in the wind. Furthermore, inspect doors, corners, vents and end sections, as these areas often require additional attention.

The film should remain secure without excessive tension. Therefore, review the installation after the material has settled and make adjustments where appropriate.

UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting for Replacement Covers

Use UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting when replacing a worn or damaged cover on a compatible greenhouse or polytunnel frame.

Before removing the existing cover, inspect the complete structure. Replace damaged fixings and repair loose, corroded or broken frame sections.

Next, measure the structure again rather than relying only on the dimensions of the previous cover. The older material may have stretched, shrunk or been cut differently during installation.

Small areas of damage may sometimes allow a local repair with a suitable greenhouse repair tape. However, widespread brittleness, extensive tearing or repeated failures may indicate that a complete replacement provides the more practical option.

Cutting UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

Plan the required cut carefully before trimming the material.

First, spread the sheeting across a clean and smooth area whenever space allows. Then mark the required position without using a method that could puncture or weaken the film.

Use an appropriate cutting tool and keep the working area clear. In addition, protect the material from rough floors, sharp objects and footwear.

Allow enough material for fixing and finishing before making the final cut. It is usually easier to trim excess film after positioning than to correct a sheet that has been cut too short.

Follow workplace safety procedures and keep cutting tools away from children and unauthorised users.

Caring for UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

Inspect UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting regularly throughout the year.

Look for loose fixings, small punctures, stretched sections and areas rubbing against the frame. Then address any problems before they develop into larger tears.

Clean the film using a method suitable for polythene. Avoid harsh tools, aggressive chemicals or abrasive materials unless their compatibility has been confirmed.

During periods of strong wind, check that doors and vents close securely. Furthermore, prevent loose objects, branches and equipment from striking or rubbing against the cover.

After snow, safely remove any accumulation before excessive weight develops. Good maintenance can support the performance of the film, although environmental conditions and installation quality will affect its service life.

Storing UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting

Store UVI Clear Greenhouse Sheeting in a clean, dry and sheltered location.

Keep the material away from sharp objects, excessive heat and sources of contamination. Additionally, protect it from unnecessary sunlight exposure while it remains in storage.

Do not place heavy or pointed items on top of folded or rolled material. Instead, support the sheeting carefully so it does not crease, stretch or become punctured.

Before installation, unfold or unroll the material cautiously and inspect it for damage.
