Postal Tubes in Three Sizes
Our brown postal tubes provide a practical way to mail, transport and store rolled documents without folding them. The rigid cylindrical construction helps protect the contents from bending, creasing, crushing and general handling damage.
Each tube features a brown cardboard body with contrasting white end lids. Therefore, users can insert and remove rolled materials quickly while keeping the contents securely contained during normal handling.
We offer three sizes:
- 63mm x 750mm – approximately 2.48 inches x 29.53 inches
- 50mm x 450mm – approximately 1.97 inches x 17.72 inches
- 50mm x 330mm – approximately 1.97 inches x 12.99 inches
The first measurement refers to the tube diameter, while the second measurement refers to its overall length.

Dimensions are nominal, while imperial conversions are approximate. Furthermore, the usable internal diameter and length may be slightly smaller because of the tube wall and fitted end lids. Therefore, check the rolled dimensions of your item before selecting a size.
Choosing the Correct Postal Tubes
Choosing the correct size helps prevent unnecessary movement while ensuring the rolled item fits comfortably inside. First, roll the document without forcing or tightly compressing it. Next, measure the diameter and length of the finished roll.
Choose a tube with an internal space that comfortably accommodates the rolled item. Additionally, allow room for the white lids to fit correctly without pressing against or damaging the contents.
Avoid selecting a tube that is too narrow because tightly packed documents may become difficult to remove. Conversely, excessive space can allow the contents to move during transportation. If necessary, use a suitable lightweight protective material to limit movement without crushing the document.
63mm x 750mm Postal Tubes
The largest option measures 63mm in diameter x 750mm long, which equals approximately 2.48 inches x 29.53 inches.
Its larger diameter provides additional space for thicker rolls or several compatible sheets. Meanwhile, the 750mm length suits longer posters, artwork, plans and technical drawings.
This size may accommodate documents such as A1 sheets when rolled in a suitable direction. However, actual suitability depends on the orientation, paper thickness, number of sheets, finished roll diameter and usable internal dimensions.
The additional diameter also makes this option useful for materials that should not be rolled too tightly.
50mm x 450mm Postal Tubes
The medium postal tubes measure 50mm in diameter x 450mm long, or approximately 1.97 inches x 17.72 inches.
This size provides a convenient balance between capacity and compact storage. Therefore, it suits many medium-length documents, prints, plans and promotional materials.
It may accommodate A2 documents when rolled in a suitable direction. Nevertheless, always measure the finished roll because paper weight, lamination, multiple sheets and protective wrapping can increase the required diameter.
50mm x 330mm Postal Tubes
The smallest option measures 50mm in diameter x 330mm long, which equals approximately 1.97 inches x 12.99 inches.
Its shorter format suits smaller prints, certificates, drawings, craft materials and promotional documents. In addition, the compact length makes it easier to store and handle than larger mailing tubes.
This size may suit A3 documents when rolled correctly. However, users should check the actual rolled dimensions and allow space for the end lids before ordering.
Protecting Documents with Postal Tubes
Unlike flat envelopes, postal tubes allow users to send suitable documents without folding them. Consequently, posters, drawings and prints can arrive without permanent fold lines.
The cardboard body supports the rolled contents and helps reduce damage from everyday handling. However, the tube cannot prevent every type of damage. Heavy impacts, excessive crushing, moisture and unsuitable handling may still affect the container and its contents.
For valuable, delicate or irreplaceable documents, add suitable internal protection and select a tracked or insured delivery service where appropriate.
Using the White End Lids
The white end lids close the tube and help prevent the contents from sliding out during normal handling.
Before closing the tube, make sure the rolled item sits fully inside and does not obstruct the lid. Then press each lid into position evenly. Avoid forcing the closure because this could damage the lid, tube edge or contents.
For postal or courier use, consider securing the lids with a suitable tape or label. This additional step can reduce the risk of a lid becoming dislodged during handling. However, avoid placing tape directly against the enclosed artwork or document.
Preparing Postal Tubes for Mailing
First, roll the item carefully and avoid creating sharp creases. If the surface is delicate, place a suitable protective sheet around it before inserting it into the tube.
Next, slide the rolled item into the tube without forcing it. If the contents move excessively, add an appropriate lightweight material to reduce movement. Then fit the white lids securely.
Apply the delivery label to a clean, dry area of the tube. Furthermore, make sure the address, barcode and service information remain flat, visible and easy to scan.
Check the chosen carrier’s current size, weight, labelling and packaging rules before dispatch because mailing requirements can vary between services.
Labelling Postal Tubes
The brown surface provides a practical area for address labels, handling labels and product identification.
Place labels lengthways where possible and smooth them firmly against the cardboard. Avoid positioning important information across a lid, seam or heavily curved area where it could lift or become difficult to scan.
If writing directly on the tube, use a suitable permanent marker and allow the ink to dry before handling it. Nevertheless, a properly printed adhesive address label will usually provide clearer delivery information.
Storing Documents in Postal Tubes
In addition to mailing, the tubes provide convenient storage for plans, posters, artwork and other rolled materials.
Label the outside of each tube so users can identify the contents without opening it. Furthermore, store the tubes horizontally on a supported surface or in an appropriate rack to prevent them from falling or becoming damaged.
Keep stored tubes in a clean, dry environment. Cardboard can absorb moisture, so damp conditions may weaken the tube and potentially affect its contents.
For archival or long-term preservation of valuable documents, use packaging specifically tested and approved for archival storage.
Water and Moisture Limitations
These cardboard postal tubes are not waterproof. Although the tube provides general protection during normal handling, rain, spills and prolonged exposure to damp conditions can soften or damage the cardboard.
Therefore, keep the tubes dry during storage and transportation. Where exposure to moisture is possible, place the rolled contents inside a suitable protective bag or waterproof inner wrapping before inserting them into the tube.
The end lids do not create a watertight seal. Consequently, do not rely on the assembled tube as waterproof packaging.
Contents Suitable for Postal Tubes
These tubes suit flexible items that can be safely rolled, including paper documents, posters, plans, maps, graphics and lightweight craft materials.
Do not force rigid, brittle or delicate items into the tube. Likewise, avoid rolling photographs, artwork or laminated materials more tightly than their recommended handling limits.
Before packing valuable printed materials, test a non-critical section or seek specialist advice where necessary.
Reusing Postal Tubes
The tubes may be suitable for reuse when they remain clean, dry and structurally sound. Before reusing one, inspect the body, edges and lids for crushing, splitting, moisture damage or contamination.
Remove or completely cover old delivery labels and barcodes. Then make sure the new address and service information remain clear.
Do not reuse a damaged tube for valuable contents because weakened cardboard may provide less protection during handling.
