White Bubble-Lined Envelopes

Our White Bubble-Lined Envelopes combine a clean paper exterior with a cushioning bubble lining, creating a practical postal solution for a wide range of small and medium-sized products.

The internal bubbles help absorb minor impacts, movement and vibration during ordinary postal handling. Meanwhile, the paper outer layer provides a smooth white surface for addresses, courier labels, postage marks and handling information.

Each envelope includes a peel-and-seal closure. Once the contents are inside, remove the release strip, fold down the flap and press firmly across the adhesive area. This creates a secure, tamper-evident closure without normally requiring separate packaging tape.

The lightweight construction makes these envelopes useful for e-commerce businesses, offices, retailers, jewellers, craft suppliers, fulfilment departments and mail-order companies.

A range of width × height sizes allows customers to select an envelope that suits the dimensions of the intended product more closely.

White Bubble-Lined Envelope Size and Specification

The general product specification is:

  • Measurement order: width × height
  • Exterior colour: white
  • Outer construction: paper
  • Internal protection: bubble lining
  • Closure: peel-and-seal adhesive flap
  • Opening: positioned beneath the closure flap
  • Construction: flexible padded mailing envelope
  • Padding level: light cushioning
  • Available sizes: select the required width × height option
  • Suitable for: compatible postal and courier products
  • Water resistance: limited
  • Handles: none
  • Gussets: none unless the selected size states otherwise

The dimensions are nominal manufacturing measurements. Therefore, small production tolerances may apply.

The internal bubble lining and sealed edges reduce the usable space inside the envelope. Consequently, the external width and height should not be treated as the precise internal capacity.

Understanding Width × Height Measurements of White Bubble-Lined Envelopes

We display the dimensions of these White Bubble-Lined Envelopes as width × height.

The first measurement represents the nominal width across the envelope while it lies flat.

The second measurement represents the nominal height from the bottom edge to the opening beneath the closure flap.

For example, an envelope described as 150mm × 220mm measures approximately 150mm wide × 220mm high.

The closure flap extends above the opening and folds down after filling. Unless the selected specification states otherwise, the closure flap should not be treated as part of the usable internal height.

Additionally, the bubble lining occupies space within the envelope. The sealed sides and bottom also reduce the available internal dimensions.

Therefore, an item measuring exactly the same as the stated width × height will not fit inside. Always allow sufficient clearance around the contents.

External Size and Usable Internal Space

The dimensions shown for padded envelopes usually describe the nominal external size rather than an exact internal compartment.

Several parts of the construction reduce the usable space:

  • Internal bubble lining
  • Side seams
  • Bottom seam
  • Thickness of the product
  • Curved or irregular product shapes
  • Protective inner wrapping
  • Space required beneath the adhesive closure

A flat document may use the available area differently from a thick accessory or rigid component.

As the contents become thicker, more of the envelope’s width and height are used to form around the product. Therefore, thicker items require additional clearance.

Never select an envelope that only just matches the product’s measurements. If the contents are close to the stated size, choose the next suitable option or request a sample before ordering.

Protective Bubble Lining

The internal bubble layer provides lightweight cushioning around the contents.

Each sealed air pocket helps absorb minor knocks, vibrations and movement during ordinary handling. Together, the bubbles create a protective barrier between the product and the paper exterior.

The lining can help protect suitable items from:

  • Minor impact
  • Surface rubbing
  • Everyday handling
  • Light vibration
  • Movement within the envelope
  • Contact with other parcels
  • Scratching from the paper exterior
  • Small knocks during sorting and delivery

However, bubble lining does not make the envelope crushproof, puncture-proof or suitable for every fragile product.

The level of protection depends on the product’s weight, shape, value, fragility and position inside the envelope.

Delicate, expensive or highly breakable products may require additional bubble wrap, foam, edge protection or a rigid postal carton.

White Paper Exterior

The white paper exterior creates a clean and professional appearance for postal and courier deliveries.

Its plain surface provides space for:

  • Delivery addresses
  • Return addresses
  • Courier labels
  • Barcodes
  • Tracking information
  • Postage labels
  • Handling instructions
  • Branded stickers
  • Internal reference numbers
  • Customer order information

White envelopes work well for businesses that want a neutral presentation suitable for different products, customers and delivery services.

However, different pens, markers, inks and labels may perform differently on the paper surface. Test the chosen labelling method before using it regularly.

Apply labels to a clean, dry and relatively flat area. Avoid positioning important barcodes across seams, creases or the closure flap.

Peel-and-Seal Adhesive Closure

Each envelope includes a self-adhesive closure protected by a removable release strip.

To seal the envelope:

  1. Place the contents completely inside.
  2. Make sure the product sits below the opening.
  3. Check the delivery details and contents.
  4. Keep the adhesive area clean and dry.
  5. Remove the release strip.
  6. Fold the flap evenly over the opening.
  7. Press firmly across the complete adhesive area.
  8. Inspect the seal before dispatch.

The peel-and-seal design supports quick packing and normally removes the need for separate packaging tape.

Once the adhesive contacts the envelope, repositioning may not be possible. Therefore, check the contents, address and paperwork before removing the release strip.

Dust, grease, moisture, loose fibres and very low temperatures may affect the adhesive. Store and use the envelopes in a suitable indoor environment.

Tamper-Evident Closure 0f White Bubble-Lined Envelopes

The permanent adhesive closure provides visible evidence if the recipient or another person opens the envelope after sealing.

Opening the flap may tear, crease or damage the paper surface. Consequently, the envelope cannot normally be opened and resealed without leaving some indication of interference.

However, the envelope is tamper-evident rather than tamper-proof. A determined person may still cut, tear or puncture the material.

Valuable or sensitive products may require additional security measures, including:

  • Internal tamper-evident packaging
  • Tracked delivery
  • Signed delivery
  • Appropriate transit insurance
  • Security labels
  • Rigid outer packaging

Inspect the completed envelope carefully before dispatch and confirm that the seams, body and closure remain intact.

Lightweight Postal Protection

Bubble-lined envelopes combine cushioning and outer packaging within one convenient product.

The built-in lining may reduce the need to wrap suitable products separately in loose bubble wrap. This can help make packing quicker while keeping the completed parcel relatively lightweight.

The flexible construction also occupies less storage space than many rigid postal cartons.

Nevertheless, delivery costs depend on the final dimensions and weight of the completed parcel. The contents may increase the thickness enough to move the item into a different postal category.

Always measure and weigh the completed envelope before applying postage or booking a courier collection.

Choosing the Correct Envelope Size

Measure the complete product before selecting a bubble-lined envelope.

Record the product’s:

  • Width
  • Height
  • Depth or thickness
  • Widest projecting point
  • Total weight
  • Shape when fully prepared for dispatch

If several items will travel together, arrange them in the intended position and measure the combined dimensions.

Allow additional clearance for:

  • The internal bubble lining
  • Side and bottom seams
  • Product thickness
  • Protective inner wrapping
  • Invoices or delivery notes
  • Easy insertion
  • The adhesive closure
  • Small variations between products
  • Removal by the recipient

Do not force a rigid product into an envelope that is too small. Excessive pressure can burst the bubbles, split the seams, damage the outer paper or prevent the flap from closing correctly.

If the product is valuable, fragile, pointed or close to the stated dimensions, request a sample and complete a packing test.

Suitable for E-Commerce and Mail-Order Businesses

White Bubble-Lined Envelopes provide a useful packaging option for:

  • Online retailers
  • Marketplace sellers
  • Jewellery businesses
  • Beauty retailers
  • Electronics-accessory suppliers
  • Craft businesses
  • Stationery companies
  • Bookshops
  • Office-supply businesses
  • Spare-parts suppliers
  • Print companies
  • Fulfilment centres
  • Distribution departments
  • Customer-service teams
  • Subscription businesses
  • Promotional-product suppliers
  • Independent retailers

The integrated bubble lining and peel-and-seal closure help simplify the packing process.

Meanwhile, the white exterior provides a professional surface for delivery information and branded labels.

Businesses should test the envelopes with their products, labels, printers and courier systems before introducing them into a regular fulfilment process.

Packing Jewellery and Accessories

Bubble-lined envelopes can provide useful protection for compatible jewellery and accessories when the products already have suitable primary packaging.

Place jewellery inside a small presentation box, pouch or protective bag before inserting it into the envelope. This helps prevent chains from tangling and stops earrings, clasps or pointed fittings from pressing directly against the bubble lining.

Do not place loose jewellery directly inside the envelope where it could move, scratch or puncture the lining.

Valuable jewellery may also require:

  • Rigid protective packaging
  • Tamper-evident seals
  • Tracking
  • Signed delivery
  • Appropriate insurance
  • Discreet outer packaging

The bubble-lined envelope provides light cushioning, but the sender remains responsible for selecting packaging and delivery arrangements suitable for the product’s value and fragility.

Packing Electronic Accessories and Components

These envelopes may suit small non-fragile electronic accessories such as cables, connectors, cases and adaptors.

However, standard bubble lining does not automatically provide electrostatic discharge protection.

Do not use these envelopes as the only protective packaging for static-sensitive components unless the specification confirms the required antistatic or conductive properties.

Electronic items may also require:

  • Antistatic bags
  • Moisture protection
  • Rigid support
  • Additional cushioning
  • Terminal protection
  • Battery-compliant packaging
  • Specialist labels

Batteries and products containing batteries may be subject to specific postal, courier and dangerous-goods rules. Check the current requirements before dispatch.

Protecting Documents, Cards and Photographs

The bubble lining helps cushion documents, photographs, cards and printed materials from minor knocks.

However, a flexible padded envelope will not prevent every type of bending or creasing.

Important certificates, valuable photographs, collectable cards and documents that must remain completely flat may require a rigid board-backed envelope or suitable postal carton.

When sending printed materials:

  • Place them flat inside the envelope
  • Use a protective sleeve where necessary
  • Keep them away from the adhesive
  • Avoid overfilling the envelope
  • Add rigid support when bending could cause damage
  • Mark the parcel appropriately where the delivery service allows

Always select protection according to the value and condition of the item.

Products Requiring Additional Protection

Use additional cushioning or rigid packaging for:

  • Glass
  • Ceramics
  • Fragile ornaments
  • Delicate electronic devices
  • Crush-sensitive products
  • Valuable jewellery
  • Easily bent documents
  • Collectables
  • Sharp components
  • Heavy metal parts
  • Products with projecting corners
  • Liquids in sealed containers
  • Items that could burst the bubbles

The envelope should not replace a postal carton when the contents require structural or crush protection.

Where necessary, place the product inside a suitable inner container and use the bubble-lined envelope only as an additional outer layer.

Products These White Bubble-Lined Envelopes Should Not Contain

Do not use White Bubble-Lined Envelopes as the only packaging for:

  • Exposed blades
  • Needles
  • Unprotected sharp metal
  • Broken glass
  • Hot products
  • Hot ashes or embers
  • Free-flowing liquids
  • Leaking containers
  • Solvents
  • Corrosive chemicals
  • Clinical or infectious materials
  • Hazardous substances
  • Pressurised containers
  • Dangerous goods
  • Batteries requiring specialist packaging
  • Materials requiring UN-approved packaging
  • Extremely heavy components
  • Items likely to cut through the paper or lining
  • Products prohibited by the chosen delivery service

Sharp, hazardous, liquid, temperature-sensitive or regulated products require suitable specialist packaging and handling procedures.

How to Pack a White Bubble-Lined Envelope

Place the envelope on a clean, dry and stable packing surface.

Before use, inspect:

  • The paper exterior
  • Side and bottom seams
  • Bubble lining
  • Envelope opening
  • Closure flap
  • Adhesive strip
  • Release liner

Do not use an envelope that appears torn, punctured, damp or damaged.

Prepare the product and any additional protection before inserting it. Place the contents inside carefully without forcing them against the seams.

Make sure the product sits fully below the opening and does not obstruct the closure flap.

Check the order, delivery details and contents before removing the release strip. Then fold the flap down evenly and press firmly across the adhesive area.

Finally, apply the delivery label to a smooth section of the envelope and inspect the completed parcel before dispatch.

Avoiding Punctures and Seam Damage

Although the bubble lining provides cushioning, pointed objects can still puncture the internal film or paper exterior.

Protect:

  • Sharp corners
  • Metal fittings
  • Jewellery clasps
  • Cable ends
  • Rigid plastic edges
  • Tool points
  • Projecting components
  • Product fasteners

Use tissue paper, foam, bubble wrap, cardboard or another appropriate protective material.

Do not drop heavy items into the envelope or force an oversized product through the opening.

Additionally, do not overfill the envelope. Excessive pressure may stretch the seams, flatten the bubbles or prevent the flap from sealing correctly.

Applying Address and Courier Labels to White Bubble-Lined Envelopes

Apply address and courier labels to a clean, flat and dry section of the white paper surface.

Avoid placing important information across:

  • The closure flap
  • Side seams
  • The bottom seam
  • Deep creases
  • Damaged areas
  • Loose folds
  • Areas distorted by bulky contents

Press the label firmly around every edge and make sure barcodes remain flat and readable.

If writing directly on the envelope, use a suitable pen or permanent marker and allow the ink to dry before handling.

Do not rely on a loosely attached label. Postal equipment and routine handling may cause unsuitable labels to lift or become detached.

Test your chosen labels and printing system before using the envelopes regularly.

Water and Weather Resistance

The bubble lining may provide limited resistance to small amounts of moisture. However, the white paper exterior is not waterproof.

Rain, spills, condensation and prolonged damp conditions may:

  • Stain the paper
  • Weaken the outer layer
  • Affect the adhesive closure
  • Damage address labels
  • Make printed information difficult to read
  • Reach the contents through damaged areas or seams

Do not immerse the envelope or leave it outdoors.

Moisture-sensitive products should have suitable sealed internal protection. For example, documents, textiles and electrical accessories may require a separate waterproof inner bag.

The sender should also choose a delivery service and storage arrangement appropriate for the product and expected conditions.

Opening the Envelope

The recipient should open the envelope carefully to avoid damaging the contents.

Where scissors or a blade are required, keep the cutting tool close to the outer edge and away from the product inside.

Senders should leave sufficient clearance between the contents and the envelope opening. This reduces the risk of the recipient cutting into the product.

The permanent peel-and-seal closure may tear the paper when opened. Therefore, the original envelope may not remain suitable for another postal journey.

If customer returns are common, provide separate return packaging or appropriate instructions.

Storage Recommendations

Store unused White Bubble-Lined Envelopes in a clean, dry indoor area.

Keep them away from:

  • Moisture
  • Direct sunlight
  • Excessive heat
  • Naked flames
  • Dust
  • Grease
  • Solvents
  • Sharp objects
  • Heavy items
  • Crushing pressure
  • Extreme changes in temperature

Store the envelopes flat and avoid bending or compressing them unnecessarily. Excessive pressure may flatten the internal bubbles and reduce their cushioning performance.

Keep the release strips in place until the envelopes are ready to use.

Allow envelopes stored in cold conditions to return to normal room temperature before sealing, as low temperatures may affect adhesive performance.

Why Choose Our White Bubble-Lined Envelopes?

Our White Bubble-Lined Envelopes combine a clean paper exterior, lightweight internal cushioning and a convenient peel-and-seal closure.

The bubble lining helps protect suitable products against minor knocks, movement and vibration. Meanwhile, the white outer surface provides a professional background for addresses, courier labels and branded stickers.

A choice of width × height sizes allows businesses to select an envelope that more closely matches the intended contents.

The built-in cushioning can also simplify packing by reducing the need to wrap suitable products separately.

These envelopes are particularly useful for jewellery, accessories, stationery, electronic accessories, craft products, printed materials, small components and general e-commerce orders.

What Are White Bubble-Lined Envelopes Also Known As?

People may also refer to these products as:

  • White padded envelopes
  • Bubble envelopes
  • Bubble mailers
  • Padded mailing envelopes
  • White postal envelopes
  • Protective postal envelopes
  • Cushioned envelopes
  • Bubble-lined mailers
  • Padded postal bags
  • Peel-and-seal envelopes
  • Self-seal padded envelopes

  • Paper bubble mailers
  • White courier envelopes
  • E-commerce padded envelopes
  • Lightweight padded mailers
  • Bubble postal bags
  • Cushioned postal bags
  • White protective mailers
  • Padded postage envelopes

Although people often use these terms interchangeably, padded envelopes can differ in width, height, usable internal space, paper construction, bubble thickness, seam width and closure design.

Always check the complete selected specification rather than relying on the general product name alone.

Food Contact Information

Do not place unpackaged food directly inside these bubble-lined envelopes unless the current specification and supporting documentation explicitly confirm direct food-contact suitability.

The envelopes may carry food products already protected by suitable primary packaging, such as sealed confectionery, packaged ingredients or securely closed retail products.

The primary packaging must prevent food, grease, oil, crumbs, moisture and odours from reaching the paper or bubble lining.

Hot products, condensation and leaking containers may damage the envelope and adhesive closure.

If you require confirmation for a particular food-related application or need supporting documentation, please email sales@expresspackaging.co.uk before ordering.

PPWR Compliance Information

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste, commonly known as the PPWR, applies to packaging placed on the EU market.

We can provide available product specifications and supporting information to help customers complete their compliance assessments. However, paper construction, lightweight cushioning or potential recyclability alone does not confirm full PPWR compliance.

The responsible economic operator must assess the finished packaging and its intended use against all applicable requirements, including packaging minimisation, substances of concern, material composition, recycled content, recyclability, labelling and technical documentation.

The envelope combines paper, plastic bubble film and adhesive. Therefore, its multi-material construction must be considered when assessing recyclability and disposal.

Customers intending to place these products on the EU market should email sales@expresspackaging.co.uk to request the latest available documentation and confirm suitability before making a recycled-content, recyclability or PPWR compliance claim.

Material and Responsible Disposal

These envelopes combine a paper outer layer with an internal plastic bubble lining and an adhesive closure.

The mixed-material construction may affect whether local recycling services accept them.

Do not automatically place the complete envelope into a paper-recycling collection. Instead, check the instructions provided by your local authority or commercial waste contractor.

Where practical and safe:

  • Remove delivery labels
  • Separate the paper and bubble lining
  • Place each accepted material into the correct waste stream
  • Keep contaminated materials out of recycling
  • Follow local flexible-plastic collection rules
  • Reuse clean protective materials where appropriate

Some recycling services may not accept bubble film through household kerbside collections. Specialist flexible-plastic collection points may be available in certain areas.

Food residue, liquids, grease, adhesives and other contamination may prevent recycling.

Important Safety Information for White Bubble-Lined Envelopes

Keep unused and used envelopes away from babies and young children. The plastic lining and detached material can present suffocation or choking risks.

Never use the envelope or bubble lining as a toy, pillow, bedding or protective clothing.

Store the envelopes away from direct heat, hot surfaces and naked flames. Paper and plastic can burn, while the bubble lining may soften or melt at high temperatures.

Do not overload the envelope or use it for products that exceed the strength of the paper, seams or adhesive closure.

Protect the envelope from blades, needles, sharp metal, broken glass and projecting corners.

Inspect the envelope before use. If the paper, lining, seams or adhesive area appears damaged, select a new envelope.

Always comply with the packaging, labelling, postal and transport requirements that apply to the intended contents.

Illustration Only

Products vary in width, height, thickness, shape, weight and fragility. Therefore, measure the complete prepared item carefully and allow enough space for the bubble lining, seams and closure.

Product photographs provide a general representation of the white paper exterior and internal bubble lining. Lighting, screen settings, printing and production batches may affect the appearance of the finished envelopes.

The back of the mailers may look different from the front and may include printed text, barcodes, product information, manufacturing details or other markings. These details can vary between sizes, production batches and suppliers and should not be considered a guaranteed feature unless specifically stated in the product specification.
