Plain White Polythene Laundry Bags

Our plain white polythene laundry bags provide a practical and economical packaging solution for commercial laundries, hotels, restaurants, care homes, healthcare facilities, gyms, spas, cleaning contractors and accommodation providers.

Each bag measures 450mm wide by 760mm high and uses 35-micron polythene containing 30% recycled material. The flexible construction accommodates clothing, towels, bedding and other soft textile products without requiring a rigid container.

The white exterior creates a clean and professional presentation while helping to conceal personal clothing and laundry during internal handling and collection.

Two perforated holes allow trapped air to escape as staff fill, compress or stack the bags. This can make the bags easier to pack and helps reduce ballooning during normal handling.

These bags are supplied in boxes of 500, providing a practical quantity for organisations with regular laundry collection and processing requirements.

Laundry Bag Size and Specification

These white laundry bags are available in the following specification:

  • 450mm x 760mm / approximately 17.7 x 29.9 inches – 35 micron, approximately 140 gauge, with two perforated holes and supplied in boxes of 500

We show measurements as width × height.

The width is measured across the flat bag from side to side. The height is measured from the sealed bottom to the open top.

The inch measurements are approximate conversions from the metric specification. Please use the millimetre measurements when you require the most accurate fit.

These bags are flat and do not have a side or bottom gusset. Bulky contents will use part of the available width and height as the bag expands around them.

35 Micron Polythene Construction

The bags use 35-micron polythene, equivalent to approximately 140 gauge.

This specification provides a practical balance between flexibility, storage efficiency and everyday performance for lightweight and medium-duty laundry applications.

The material bends around soft and irregularly shaped textiles, making it suitable for garments, towels, linen and other fabric products.

These bags are not intended for sharp, rigid or excessively heavy contents. Clothing fasteners, metal components, broken zips and projecting objects may puncture the polythene.

A bag may have enough internal space for a particular quantity of laundry but still become too heavy to handle safely. Always consider weight as well as volume.

Made with 30% Recycled Material

These white laundry bags contain 30% recycled material, helping reduce the amount of virgin plastic required for their manufacture.

Recycled content may produce minor variations in shade, surface appearance or clarity between production batches. These variations do not necessarily affect the intended use of the bag.

The remaining material and complete product specification determine performance and suitability. Recycled content alone does not confirm recyclability, environmental impact or compliance with every packaging requirement.

Please contact our sales team if you require the latest material specification or supporting documentation for your organisation’s environmental reporting.

Two Perforated Ventilation Holes

Each bag includes two perforated holes that allow trapped air to escape while staff fill, stack or compress the bag.

Without ventilation, air can become trapped between garments and cause a filled polythene bag to inflate or balloon. The perforations provide an outlet for this air and can make the packed bags easier to arrange in cages, trolleys or storage areas.

The holes are ventilation features and must not be used as carrying handles. Pulling or lifting the bag through a perforation may enlarge the opening or tear the surrounding material.

Because the bags are perforated, they are not airtight, watertight or suitable for applications requiring a complete moisture barrier.

Do not use the perforated holes to attach heavy tags, hooks or fasteners.

Suitable Commercial Laundry Environments

These bags are suitable for businesses and organisations that need a convenient method of collecting and separating laundry.

Hotels and accommodation providers can use them for bedding, towels and guest-room textiles. Restaurants and catering businesses can collect tablecloths, napkins, aprons and kitchen textiles.

Commercial laundries and cleaning contractors can use the bags to organise garments and linen awaiting washing, drying, ironing or return.

Care homes, clinics and healthcare facilities may use the bags for appropriate general laundry streams, subject to their infection-control and waste-management procedures.

These are general-purpose laundry bags. Do not use them for clinical, infectious or hazardous laundry unless the complete product specification and your organisation’s procedures confirm that they are suitable.

Separating Different Laundry Streams

The plain white finish can support the collection of general laundry or a particular internal textile stream.

Businesses can identify the contents using suitable:

  • Laundry labels
  • Customer names
  • Room numbers
  • Collection references
  • Department labels
  • Barcode stickers
  • Processing instructions
  • Date labels
  • Clean or used laundry labels
  • Colour-coded stickers

Apply labels to a clean and dry area of the bag. Avoid covering the perforated holes or placing labels too close to the bottom seal.

Where colour-coded laundry bags form part of an established segregation system, check that white is the correct colour for the intended contents before use.

The colour of a bag alone does not confirm its suitability for contaminated, infectious or hazardous laundry.

How to Choose the Correct White Laundry Bags Size

Estimate the combined volume and weight of the laundry before filling the bag.

Soft textiles will conform to the shape of the bag, but thick towels, bedding and bulky garments can use a significant amount of the available width and height.

Leave enough unused material at the open top to gather, fold, tie or otherwise close the bag. Overfilling may prevent secure closure and place unnecessary strain on the side seams and bottom seal.

Do not compact the contents so tightly that the polythene stretches around buttons, zips or garment fasteners.

If the intended laundry is bulky or close to the full dimensions, test a sample before ordering a complete box.

How to Use White Laundry Bags

Open the bag fully and check the material, seams and perforations before filling.

Place the bag inside a suitable laundry container, trolley or sack holder where practical. This supports the polythene during filling and reduces strain on the bag.

Add the laundry gradually, placing heavier or denser textiles at the bottom. Avoid dropping bundles into an unsupported bag from height.

Make sure sharp fasteners, hangers and projecting components cannot puncture the material. Remove hangers or package them separately.

Do not fill the bag beyond a safe lifting weight. Leave sufficient space at the top for the intended closure.

After filling, gather or fold the open end and secure it using a suitable tie, tape or other closure where required by your organisation’s procedures.

Carry the bag by supporting its body or base. Do not lift it using the perforated holes.

White Laundry Bags for Clean and Used Clothes

The bags can be used for clean laundry or suitable general used laundry, but businesses should keep these applications separate.

Do not reuse a bag that has carried used laundry for clean textiles unless your hygiene procedures specifically permit this and the bag remains uncontaminated.

When packaging clean laundry, work in a clean area and prevent the bag from contacting dirty floors, trolleys or work surfaces.

Used laundry may contain moisture, dirt, bodily fluids, chemicals or other contaminants. Follow your organisation’s hygiene, infection-control and waste procedures when handling these materials.

These bags are not a substitute for specialist water-soluble, alginate, infection-control or clinical laundry bags where those products are required.

Protecting Laundry During Handling

The polythene construction helps protect the contents from dust, dirt and light moisture during ordinary internal handling and short-term storage.

The bags are not designed as protective parcel packaging and should not replace boxes, mailing sacks or other transit packaging when sending laundry through a courier or parcel network.

The two perforated holes prevent the bags from providing an airtight or completely moisture-resistant enclosure.

Keep packed bags away from standing water, rain, sharp surfaces, excessive heat and chemicals that may affect the polythene or textiles.

Closing and Labelling the White Laundry Bags

These bags have an open top without an integral adhesive strip, drawstring or tie.

Depending on the application, staff can:

  • Gather the open end
  • Fold the top over
  • Apply suitable tape
  • Use an appropriate bag tie
  • Place the bag inside a laundry cage or trolley
  • Attach a lightweight identification label

Choose a closure that suits the laundry, handling process and hygiene procedure.

Avoid staples where they could damage garments, create a handling hazard or contaminate laundry equipment.

Do not seal wet or damp laundry for prolonged periods unless your procedures specifically permit it, as trapped moisture may encourage odours, staining or microbial growth.

Why Choose Our White Laundry Bags?

Our white laundry bags combine a practical 450mm × 760mm size with flexible 35-micron polythene construction.

The two perforated ventilation holes allow trapped air to escape, helping reduce ballooning during filling and stacking.

The white finish provides a clean appearance and helps conceal the contents, while the plain surface allows businesses to add their own labels and processing information.

Manufacturing the bags with 30% recycled material reduces the amount of virgin plastic required.

Boxes of 500 provide a convenient quantity for commercial laundries, hotels, restaurants, accommodation providers and organisations with regular textile-handling requirements.

What Are White Laundry Bags Also Known As?

People also commonly refer to these bags as:

  • White polythene laundry bags
  • White plastic laundry bags
  • Laundry collection bags
  • Laundry sacks
  • Linen bags
  • Linen collection sacks
  • Hotel laundry bags
  • Commercial laundry bags
  • Laundry transport bags
  • Laundry handling sacks

  • Textile bags
  • White linen sacks
  • Perforated laundry bags
  • Ventilated laundry bags
  • Recycled-content laundry bags
  • Laundry trolley liners
  • Clothing collection bags
  • General-purpose laundry sacks

Although people often use these terms interchangeably, laundry bags can differ in size, thickness, colour, ventilation, closure, recycled content and suitability for contaminated textiles. Always check the complete product specification before ordering.

Food Contact Information

These laundry bags are intended for clothing, linen and textile applications.

Do not place unpackaged food directly inside the bags unless the product specification separately confirms food-contact suitability for the intended food and conditions of use.

Food products already enclosed in suitable primary packaging should only be placed inside where the bag’s dimensions, cleanliness and specification remain appropriate.

If you require confirmation for a particular application or need supporting product documentation, please email sales@expresspackaging.co.uk before ordering.

PPWR Compliance Information

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste, commonly known as the PPWR, applies from 12 August 2026 to packaging placed on the EU market.

We can provide available product specifications and supporting information to help customers complete their compliance assessments.

The inclusion of 30% recycled material or potential recyclability does not, by itself, confirm full PPWR compliance. The responsible economic operator must assess the finished packaging and its intended use against all applicable requirements, including packaging minimisation, substances of concern, recycled content, recyclability, labelling and technical documentation.

Customers intending to place these products on the EU market should email sales@expresspackaging.co.uk to request the latest available documentation and confirm suitability for their application before making a PPWR compliance claim.

Material and Responsible Disposal

These laundry bags use flexible polythene containing 30% recycled material.

Clean bags may suit specialist flexible-plastic or polythene-film recycling collections, depending on the facilities available in your area.

Many household kerbside collections do not accept plastic bags and flexible films. Commercial waste contractors, specialist recyclers and some retailer collection points may provide alternative recycling routes.

Empty the bag completely and remove paper labels, ties, tape and other non-polythene components where practical.

Bags contaminated with dirt, bodily fluids, oils, chemicals or other substances may not be suitable for recycling. Follow the appropriate laundry, infection-control or waste procedure for the previous contents.

Where a bag remains clean and undamaged, consider reusing it for a compatible non-hygiene-critical application before disposal.

Always follow the guidance provided by your local authority or commercial waste contractor.

Important Safety Information

Keep unused and filled bags away from babies and young children to reduce the risk of suffocation. Do not use the bags as toys, clothing or bedding.

Store unused bags in a clean, dry area away from direct heat, naked flames and prolonged sunlight. Polythene can melt or burn when exposed to high temperatures.

Do not place the bag over the head or enter it. Keep loose bags away from moving machinery, laundry equipment and conveyors.

Do not overload the bags or lift them using the perforated holes. Support filled bags from underneath and follow your organisation’s manual-handling procedures.

Protect the polythene from sharp fasteners, broken zips, hangers and pointed objects.

Do not use these general-purpose bags for clinical, infectious, hazardous or chemically contaminated laundry unless a competent assessment and the product documentation confirm suitability.

Sample Requests

To request a sample, please email sales@expresspackaging.co.uk or call 0121 622 2347.
